DEATH BATTLE ARENA
__________________
Name: Mario
Age: 26
Race: Human
Title: Hero of the Mushroom Kingdom

Bio: Mario needs little introduction. The legendary hero of the Mushroom Kingdom started off a mere plumber, but has over time earned his fame from various feats of heroism and adventure. Apart from saving Princess Peach from the clutches of the Koopa King, Bowser, Mario has defeated the original Donkey Kong, played various sports, held various occupations, traveled through space, survived the Mario Party series, and more. No matter the foe, genre, or obstacle, Mario will stand tall and face it head on.

Costume 1: Traditional Appearance
Costume 2: Retro-Colored Mario
Costume 3: Mario Maker Construction Attire
Costume 4: White Top-Hat and Suit
Costume 5: Doctor Mario

Voice Actor: Kevin Afghani

Playstyle: Power Star Plumber (Power-Up/All-Rounder)
Mario is exceptionally well-rounded and his moveset covers a lot of archetypes from anti-air to jump boosts to projectiles. His Power Up also allows for boosts to his attacks that can be fun to explore, while also not being vital to winning or playing him well. His Power Up is chosen at random, if it happens at all, and like other All-Rounders, Mario is not a specialist in any sort of field.
Difficulty – 1/5 (Easy)

Normals:
Standing Light Punch: Punches forward. Can be followed up with a second punch, followed by a jump kick with proper timing.
Standing Medium Punch: Pulls back his fist and punches forward, stronger than his light punch.
Standing Heavy Punch: Pulls his hand back and thrusts them forward, a burst of fire erupting on contact with the foe.
Standing Light Kick: Hops into the air and kicks the opponent. Can be followed up with a second and third kick w/proper timing.
Standing Medium Kick: Does a one-two thrust-kick with each foot.
Standing Heavy Kick: Hops in the air and kicks forward with both feet.
Air Light Punch: Karate chops forward.
Air Medium Punch: Does an overhead punch.
Air Heavy Punch: Spins with his arm outstretched, a Luma emerging from under his hat to land a smaller, weaker hit if the opponent is just out of his range.
Air Light Kick: Extends his foot to kick the opponent.
Air Medium Kick: Turns on his side and spins with his feet like a drill.
Air Heavy Kick: Thrusts his feet down to push off the opponent. With a second button press, he will perform a hip-drop to take both players back to the ground.
Crouching Light Punch: Jabs forward.
Crouching Medium Punch: Cappy spins around his body briefly to hit the opponent twice.
Crouching Heavy Punch: Dives forward and slides across the ground to damage the foe on contact. Can be followed by by flipping into a forward flying kick for extra damage and ground.
Crouching Light Kick: Slides a foot across the ground.
Crouching Medium Kick: Spins on the ground almost like he is breakdancing.
Crouching Heavy Kick: Crouches, then springs up in the air and thrusts with both his feet. A well-placed hit can push him backward to create space.

Special Attacks:
-Head-Stomp: Mario can use this in midair to stomp both feet on his opponent's head and bounce off them to regain altitude.

-Fireball: Mario blasts a fireball at the opponent, which bounces until it dissipates. This can be done three times.

-Cape Strike: Mario swings an unseen Cape at the opponent, knocking them back. This can also be done to reflect projectiles.

-Super Jump Punch: Mario performs a powerful uppercut at the opponent, sending them flying and also causing coins to fly out of them.

-Power Up: A "?" Block appears above Mario and he hits it, gaining one of three power-ups for a brief time. The power-ups are chosen at random and, sometimes, all Mario will get is a coin that does nothing.
*Fire Flower: Mario will swap out for a white shirt and hat and red overalls, increasing his physical attacks by adding a burn effect, and also enhancing the strength of his fireballs.
*Ice Flower: Mario will swap out for a blue shirt and hat and red overalls, adding an ice effect to his attacks and turning his fireballs into iceballs, though his traction is somewhat-reduced.
*Metal Cap: Mario becomes enveloped in metal and becomes more durable and stronger, though his speed does not change.

-Cappy Toss: Mario throws Cappy in a frisbee fashion. Cappy only does minor damage, but can neutralize projectiles on impact.
LIGHT: Cappy flies forward in a straight line. Basic move, really.
MEDI: Cappy steadily slopes upward to catch airborne opponents or counter fan-pattern projectiles.
HEAVY: Cappy falls a short arch to the ground and stays there. If Mario touches Cappy in this state, he will be sprung even higher into the air.

-Hammer Strike: Mario swings his hammer at the opponent, causing heavy damage and sending them flying back. This can also be done in the air.

Throws:
FORWARD: Mario grabs the opponent by the feet, spins them around in several circles, then lets go, sending them flying forward.

BACKWARD: Mario stomps on the opponent's head three times, then springs off as they fall to the ground and lands behind them.

Super Moves:
-Mario Finale: Mario charges his hands with a powerful flaming energy before launching it at the opponent, sending twin blasts of fire that inflicts multiple fire-based hits on the opponent and pushes them across the stage.

-Starman: Mario pulls out a star-shaped powerup and absorbs it, glowing a constantly-shifting rainbow of colors and making him invulnerable for a brief time while the iconic Starman music plays in the background.

-Mega Mushroom Drop: Mario jumps at the opponent and, on successful contact, will jump on their head three times, the third hit grounding them as he springs as high as he can go. He then pulls out the Mega Mushroom and grows into a giant before performing a midair spin and performing a hip-drop attack that smashes the opponent into a crater. Mario will then roll off and shrink down to his normal size.

FATALITIES:
-Stomp 'Em: Mario makes a spectacular leap into the air and lands, feet-first, down onto the opponent's head, causing the opponent to scream in pain. He jumps again and stomps them again, this time causing their head to disappear under their shoulders. Mario then jumps to the ground and shoots a fireball at them, the fires burning away their chest to reveal their head is now inside of their chest cavity before the opponent falls on their back.

-Like a Bug: Mario takes a Mega Mushroom and uses it to grow to an immense size. He then raises a foot and brings it slamming down on the opponent, who only has enough time to look up and scream. Mario lifts his foot to show their crushed, bloody remains before stepping on them again, then drags his foot across the floor, smearing their remains and blood before shrinking back down to his original size.

FRIENDSHIP: Bouncy House
Mario, still looking ready for action, looks up in the air as a shadow looms. Landing right as his side is a brightly-colored, inflatable castle. Mario looks to the audience, shrugs, then enters the castle and begins bouncing around inside of it with a gleeful smile and giddy, child-like laughter. All the while, this music plays in the background…

Stage: Mushroom Kingdom

Theme Song: Peach's Castle from "Super Smash Bros."

_

Prologue: The unthinkable had happened in the Mushroom Kingdom--Princess Peach had been kidnapped...AGAIN. Always quick to respond, Mario and Luigi reached Bowser's castle in record time (albeit after finding a few Toads telling them that "the princess is in another castle"). The final showdown was inevitable with Mario and Luigi faced with the Koopa King, Peach in his scaly clutches. Before their showdown could begin, however, a portal of unknown energy materialized and a powerful gravity-like force pulled all four of them in. When Mario came to, he was in a strange world, and the other three people with him were nowhere to be seen. Ever the dutiful hero, Mario swore that he would not rest until he found his brother and the princess and delivered them back home safely.

Rival Cutscene:
(Mario is jogging through a world similar to his own Mushroom Kingdom, complete with floating blocks, green pipes, and Goombas and Koopas. He does all this while humming the familiar Mario Bros. Theme Music. Suddenly, a blue streak of light races past him, earning a yelp in surprise. He suddenly raises a gloved hand in time to block a high-kick from a familiar blue hedgehog.)

Sonic: Hehe...nice to know you haven't lost your touch, Mario!

(Sonic takes another swing at Mario, who backtracks out of reach and attempts to punch Sonic, but he hits nothing but air as Sonic races half a circle behind him. The hedgehog throws a punch that Mario catches in a palm and uses it to throw the hedgehog behind him. Sonic lands on his feet and smiles, excitedly.)

Sonic: Ooh, not bad. Tell ya what, tubby...how about a rematch? For old times' sake?

Mario: Let's-a go!

(On seeing Mario is ready for some action, Sonic takes a combat-ready pose.)

Sonic: Alright! Don't go holdin' back on me, alright?

Mario: Oh yeah!

(Both make a break for each other. Fade to black.)

Ending: Mario found Luigi in good time and the two brothers ultimately vanquished the mastermind of Death Battle, earning their right to return home to the Mushroom Kingdom. They did and were met with their friends who also survived the encounter from Princess Peach to Yoshi and even Donkey Kong. However, someone else was there to meet them as well--a Japanese man in a tuxedo by the name of Sakurai. He was there to offer them to be a part of something called "The Smash Initiative".
Mario first appeared in 1981 and has been a huge star ever since. There's probably not a person alive who doesn't know Mario--he's that famous. Fame is not everything, so Mario will have to bring his experience and incredible improvisational skills when he faces his opponents in a DEATH BATTLE.
