Now, I start casting for the Wind Waker. Because I was up for a challenge, I decided to shoot for a more Funimation-style cast. Here are the results...
Link: This was arguably the hardest choice for me in this whole thing. I wanted it to be boyish; something I wasn't really used to, especially when it comes to Funimation. It came down to Greg Ayres and Laura Bailey and, in the end, Greg won out.
Tetra/Zelda: I had to change from Jamie Marchi for a good reason. First off, Caitlin can make her characters sound a bit younger than most of Jamie's characters. And second, I could buy Tetra from Jamie, but not Zelda. Both performances I could buy from Caitlin Glass.
Ganondorf: Unlike the previous Ganondorf, I really remember this one having a slightly higher-pitched voice. So, I needed someone with a deep voice and yet a good bit of throat to it. Gerald C. Rivers filled the role nicely, in my book.
King of Hyrule/King of Red Lions: I knew he needed a very deep and kingly voice and, almost immediately, Chris Sabat came to mind. He's well-renowned for his deep voice in any anime/game he's appeared in.
Aryll: I knew that Aryll needed to sound very young and the answer came to me in FMA. Besides, Brina is used to playing girly characters.
Grandma: Okay, this was coming from a mile away when I took up the Funimation challenge. Julie can capture someone kind and yet aged.
Fishman: If it wasn't Funimation, I probably would've chosen Dave Wittenberg. But, Liebrecht can pull off the kind of playful and/or snappy tone that the guides of the sea give to Link.
Orca: While difficult to cast, believe me, Orca wasn't as hard to match as Link. Brandon Potter can be tough and yet comical when the time comes. His performance as Sven Vollfied kinda proves that.
Sturgeon: Here's a gift to the DBZ audience. I figured that Master Roshi's voice would do well for the smarter of the two brothers...and I was RIGHT.
